In this version users can log the actions carried out by CleanMem so users can see physical evidence of what the program has done.
Installation is very simple and straighforward and this works on Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008 and Win7.
When installing in Vista and Win7 the program must be installed with administrator privileges. XP setup is extremely simple, install it and leave it as the program is programmed to run every 30 minutes and then closes itself.
Through Task Scheduler the time can be adjusted to suit the user or left on the default.
In earlier versions, the program would run and close and the only indication was Processes in Task Manager. V1.5 gives users the ability to create a log of the actions carried out and will show the RAM reclaimed at the preset period.
The logfile can be found in C:cleanmem_log.txt. It is important that when creating the log, the argument =false is changed to =true.
The video will explain how to create the logfile, add items to the ignore list or clean only list. In Vista and Win7 users may find that access is denied when trying to save the text files, so simply select Save As and save to your Desktop, then drag and drop into the CleanMem folder and replace the existing file.
Once changes have been made to the text files it is important to double click the corresponding Apply List for either 32bit or 64bit machines. If the actions are not applied they will not be executed - in Vista and Win7 right click the list to be applied and Run as administrator.
Example: right click Apply_Ignore_List_32bit_OS.bat and select Run as administrator.
The schedule can also be changed in Vista and Win7 through Task Scheduler. Simply right click the program name and select Properties. Under the General tab select your OS and under the Triggers tab click the Trigger name 'At startup' and click Edit, then change the time value to suit yourself or leave it on the default.
Please note that in each instance that I have installed this on Vista and Win7 it was necessary to reboot before the schedule becomes active.
I highly recommend this free utility and give it 10/10 for ease of use and performance as it makes use of the Windows API in a very clever way, resources are low and it's not constantly running and using more resources.
